Vijay had previously walked out of Shankar’s academy of Idiots due to some creative differences and now he is back as confirmed by the confidential sources. There was some surprising news on airs that Suriya is replacing Vijay and the shoot was to begin by first week of March after the completion of ‘Ezham Arivu’.

But again, the creative difference between Shankar and Suriya seems to have popped up resulting in abrupt conclusion. Vijay is busy now shooting for the film ‘Velayudham’ and will soon schedule dates for the project.

Meanwhile, Shankar is planning to shoot the portions involving Jiiva, Srikanth, Ileana and Sathyaraj in Ooty by next week followed by a long schedule in Dehradun.

When someone like a Vijay decides to visit a newspaper office, for the first-ever time in his life, there has to be a genuine reason for it. This time, it was evident; he wanted to thank Deccan Chronicle for its continued support during the Kaavalan controversy. He thanked the staff for fair and unbiased reporting.

It is only to pay my respects. There are no political undertones to it.

I will produce films with a message. For me films are about expression and conveying thought.

It is not to be encouraged. Piracy is sadly a reality but we need to combat it. I hope it doesn’t happen with Velayudham.

To always do the right thing by the country and not to be drawn into controversy or corruption.
On Bollywood:
No intentions at all. I love Tamil cinema.
On not making any effort to glam-up like other heroes:
No one ever wants to see me in glam roles. If scripts demand it, I am more than willing.
On his love life:
My wife is my friend, confidante and support system. She does a lot for me. I truly found love after marriage.
On news that shocked him:
The rape and murder of Coimbatore kids. I felt very angry about it. In such instances, the perpetrators should be given an instant death by hanging.
On the media:

Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay's political ambitions have been put on hold according to recent developments in his camp. Vijay's father SA Chandrasekaran has categorically said that Vijay will enter politics not before he becomes forty.

As the political maneuvers have stopped, Vijay got back seriously into his career scenario and is looking for the best of times ever. There was the news of Seeman directing Vijay in a film titled ‘Pagalavan’, but the thought was watered down later, or it was romoured to be.

But the news reaching us now says that the revolutionary film 'Pagalavan' is very much on. After hearing the full story from Seeman recently, Vijay and he have even gone to level of discussing the cast and crew of the film to start the project as early as possible.

One thing Vijay requested from Seeman is that while he will do everything to finish the film non-stop, Seeman will have to restrain himself from making political statements that may jeopardize the progress of the film.

After a series of flops for the past two years, Vijay has redeemed himself with Kaavalan. The movie is doing very good business and Vijay is getting praises for his role.

If sources are to be believed, Vijay’s market value has gone up once again and several big banners have lined up for Vijay’s next. The big budget hit maker Kalaipuli. S. Thanu is said to have signed up Vijay to do a movie for his production house.

And Vijay’s pet producer R.B. Choudhary of Super Good films has also signed him up. Currently, Vijay is shooting for Aascar Ravichandran’s Velayutham directed by ‘Jeyam’ Raja with Genelia and Hansika as his pairs. We are hoping Vijay is back to being a hit machine with good movies.

Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay has once again proved that he is the ‘King of Openings.’ Though his recently-released film Kaavalan faced myriad problems till it hit theatres, the superstar has triumphed over all obstacles and the film... has been decla...red a hit at the box-office.

The actor speaks to DC in an exclusive interview…

* Do you think there were some vested interests who intended to sabotage the release of Kaavalan? Were the difficulties politically motivated?
Undoubtedly, some miscreants were active behind the scenes to see that the film did not get released on the festive Pongal day. Everyone knows that problems do crop up during any big film’s release. These are glitches which are within our control and can be sorted out. But the kind of major hurdles which came up pre-Kaavalan’s release, were something which I have not encountered in my career spanning more than fifty films. It was a new experience for me.

* We hear that you gave up a huge sum of money from your remuneration to ensure that the film was released.
Money does not matter to me. I have done it in the past! But in Kaavalan’s case I had made a commitment to my fans that the film would release on time.
Still, it was sad that it could not make it to theaters on January 14.

* Despite all the difficulties, the film got a tremendous opening. Comment.
I should thank my fans for the support they gave me all through my troubled times. They have made the film a success. I am happy the movie is running well in 350 theaters across the state. People have received the film well. I must also thank Siddique for giving me such a good film. Today I have forgotten all that I went through. It has given me a new energy and vigour.


* After this, will you balance between films with a realistic approach like Kaavalan and fulfledged masala movies?
Yeah, I have decided to do that. My next, Velayudham, is a commercial film but with logic. I have two heroines, Genelia and Hansika and with a producer like Aascar Ravichandran, the movie is shaping extremely well. Raja is a dedicated director and after this film, I am sure all the big heroes will vie to act under his direction.

* Your dad S.A. Chandrashekar met AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa. Can we take it as a prelude for you to enter politics?
(Smiles) There is no such motivation. Lots of people don’t get the opportunity to meet big leaders. My father got one and it was just a courtesy call he made. Like I met Rahul Gandhi last year in Delhi!

I really want to do something for the people. But this is not the correct time for me to enter politics. Time has brought me as an actor today, and the same time will bring me to politics one day.

* Will you campaign for Jayalalitha during the forthcoming elections?
I don’t think so. I haven’t decided.

l It was rumored that you had a difference of opinion with Shankar and opted out of the 3 Idiots remake.
When I decide to do a film with Shankar, I will do it knowing what kind of a filmmaker he is and go there anticipating the kind of things he would expect from me.
So, no question of difference of opinion. It was for purely professional reasons that I could not dole out dates as I was working in Velayudham.

''முதலில் 'காவலன்’ படத்தின் வெளிநாட்டு உரிமையை மட்டும் 5 கோடிக்கு ஐங்கரன் மூவீஸ் கருணா கேட்டார். அப்போதே கொடுத்திருந்தால், இத்தனை வில்லங்கம் வந்திருக்காது. 50 லட்சம் அதிகம் தருவதாகச் சொன்னார் என்பதற்காக சிங்கப்பூர் சரவணனுக்கு அந்த உரிமையைக் கொடுத்தார்கள். இது ஏழரையை வலியத் தேடி மாட்டிக் கொண்ட கதையைப் போல ஆனது. சரவணன் சினிமா தொழிலுக்குப் புதுசு. விஜய் படம் வெளிவரவே கூடாது என்று வரிந்துகட்டிக் கொண்டு பெரிய இடத்து குரூப் குரூரமாகச் செயல்பட்டது. அவர்கள் விரித்த வலையில் சுலபமாகச் சிக்கிக்கொண்டார் சரவணன். ஆகமொத்தம், பிரச்னையின் பிதாமகனே சிங்கப்பூர் சரவணன்தான்!'' என்று விஜய் தரப்பு சொல்ல ஆரம்பித்திருக்கிறது!

ஒன்றுதிரண்ட 9 வழக்குகள்!

பொங்கலுக்கு 'காவலன்’ வெளிவராது என்று எதிர்த் தரப்பினர் உறுதியாக நம்பினர். ஆனால், வெளிவந்தே தீரவேண்டும் என்பதில் வெறியாக இருந்தார், விஜய். அதற்கான வேலைகளில் சுறுசுறுப்பாக இறங்க... இதனைப் பார்த்துக் கோபமான எதிர்த்தரப்புதான் பல்வேறு வழக்குகளை பாய்ச்சியதாக விஜய் தரப்பு சந்தேகப்படுகிறது. இரண்டு மூன்று நாட்களுக்குள் எத்தனையோ அதிரடி திருப்பங்கள் நடக்க, கடந்த 11-ம் தேதி அன்று மொத்தமாகக் கூட்டிப் பார்த்தால் ஒன்பது வழக்குகள் இந்தப்படத்துக்கு எதிராக குவிந்தன. படப் பெட்டி எப்போது வருமென்று தியேட்டர் அதிபர்கள் பி.பி. எகிறும் அளவுக்கு போன் செய்ய விநியோகஸ்தர்கள் விழிபிதுங்கி நின்றனர்.

பொதுவாக லேப்புக்கு 10 கோடி தரவேண்டும் என்றால், முதலில் 2 கோடி தருவார்கள். பின்னர் படப் பெட்டி எடுக்க... விநியோகஸ்தர், தியேட்டர் அதிபர்களிடம் பணம் பெற்றுக் கடனை அடைப்பார்கள். இதுதான் சினிமா நடைமுறை. ஆனால், அரசியல் நெருக்கடி காரணமாக மொத்தமாக செட்டில் செய்யச் சொன்னார்கள். செங்கல்பட்டைச் சேர்ந்த நெகட்டிவ் ஃபைனான்ஸியர் ஒருவர் முழுப் பணத்தையும் கேட்டு நெருக்கடி கொடுத்தார். 'நல்லா பழகின உங்களுக்கு எங்க மேல நம்பிக்கை இல்லையா... இப்படி பல்டி அடிக்கிறீங்களே, நியாயமா?’ என்று அவரிடம் கேட்டதும், ' எல்லாம் மேலிடத்து பிரஷர்...’ என்று இப்போது ஸாரி சொல்கிறார்.

கொந்தளித்த ரசிகர்கள்!

வழக்கமாக விஜய் படம் வெளிவரும் ஒரு வாரத்துக்கு முன்பே கட்-அவுட், போஸ்டர் என திமிலோகப்படுத்துவது அவரது ரசிகர்களின் பழக்கம். ரிலீஸ் தேதி குளறுபடியால் பல ஊர்களில் தியேட்டர் அதிபர்கள் போஸ்டரே ஒட்டவில்லை. இதனால், 'விஜய் படம் வெளிவராதோ...?’ என்று நிலைகுலைந்து போனார்கள் விஜய் ரசிகர்கள். அதன் ரியாக்ஷனாகத் தங்களது கொந்தளிப்பைக் காட்டத் துவங்கினர். திருச்சியில் இருக்கும் ரசிகர்கள் விஜய் படம் வெளிவருவதில் குழப்பம் நீடித்ததைத் தொடர்ந்து, ரகளையில் ஈடுபட்டனர். பஸ் கண்ணாடிகளை உடைத்தனர். பவானியில் இருக்கும் விஜய் ரசிகர் ஒருவர் தியேட்டர் வாசலில் தீக்குளிக்க முயல... பதறிப்போன ரசிகர்கள் பத்திரமாக மீட்டு, படம் பார்க்கும்வரை கூடவே இருந்தனர். திருநெல்வேலியில் இருக்கும் ரசிகர்கள் 25 பேர் 'காவலன்’ ரிலீஸுக்காக மொட்டை போட்டு ஆன்மிக வேண்டுதல் செய்தனர். வேலூரில் காலை 5 மணிக்கே தியேட்டரை முற்றுகையிட்ட ரசிகர்கள், 12 மணிக்கு படப்பெட்டி வந்தபிறகு படம் பார்த்துவிட்டுத்தான் திரும்பினர். இதற்கு முன்புவந்த விஜய்யின் சில படங்கள் சரியாக போகாததால், சோர்ந்து போயிருந்த விஜய் ரசிகர்களைக் 'காவலனி’ன் வருகை துள்ளிக்குதிக்க வைத்தது!

இந்தப் படம் வெளியிட முடியாமல் கடந்த இரண்டு நாட்களாக கண்துஞ்சாது தவித்த விஜய்யின் அப்பா எஸ்.ஏ.சந்திரசேகரனை தொடர்புகொண்டபோது, நம்மிடம் மனம்திறந்து பேசினார். ''எங்களை அழிக்க நினைப்பவர்கள் அவர்கள் அறியாமலே எங்களை வளர்க்கிறார்கள் என்று சொன்னார் அறிஞர் அண்ணா. 'பேனரில் உன்முகம் எத்தனை முறை கிழிக்கப்படுகிறதோ, அத்தனை அடி உயரத்துக்கு நீயும், உன் கொள்கையும் உயருகிறது’ என்று சொன்னார், புரட்சித் தலைவர் எம்.ஜி.ஆர்.! 'எதிர்ப்பு இல்லையென்றால் ஒரு இயக்கம் வளராது. நாம் எதிர்ப்பிலே வளர்ந்தவர்கள்...’ என்று அதற்கு விளக்கம் சொன்னார், கலைஞர்.

தி.மு.க-வில் இருந்து தூக்கி எறியப்பட்டதும் அ.தி.மு.க-வைத் தொடங்கி அசுரவேகத்தில் வளர்ந்து, ஆட்சியையும் பிடித்தார், புரட்சித் தலைவர் எம்ஜி.ஆர்.

அமரர் எம்.ஜி.ஆர். மறைந்தபோது, சவ ஊர்வல வேனில் ஏற முயன்ற பெண்மணியைக் கீழே தள்ளிவிட்டுப் பிற்காலத்தில் புரட்சித் தலைவியாக உயர்த்தினார்கள் எதிரிகள். கல்யாண மண்டபத்தை இடித்ததன் மூலம் இன்றைக்கு தே.மு.தி.க. கட்சிக்கு மக்கள் செல்வாக்கு மளமளவென்று வளர்ந்தது. தானுண்டு, தன் வேலையுண்டு என்று சினிமாவில் நடித்துக்கொண்டு இருந்த என் மகன் விஜய்யை கையைப் பிடித்து இழுத்துவந்து முழுநேர அரசியல்வாதியாக மாற்றப் போகிறார்கள் இவர்கள்! தானாய் வளர்ந்துவரும் 'விஜய் மக்கள் இயக்கம்’ மீது தடிகொண்டு தாக்கி விஸ்வரூபம் எடுக்க வைத்ததற்கு நன்றி! கோடம்பாக்கத்தில் எத்தனையோ படம் ரிலீஸாகிறது! அதில் ஒன்று 'காவலன்’. அது வெளிவரக்கூடாது என்பதில் அவர்களுக்கு என்ன அக்கறை? அதுதான் புரியவில்லை! 'காவலன்’ திரையிடுவதற்காக ஒப்புக்கொண்ட தியேட்டர்களில் திடீரென கெடுபிடிகள் செய்து வேறு சில படங்களை வெளியிட்டது ஏன்? எந்த காரணத்தை முன்னிட்டும் 'காவலன்’ ரிலீஸ் ஆகக்கூடாது என்று சிலர் திட்டம் தீட்டியதாகச் சொல்கிறார்களே, அதன் பின்னணி என்ன?

சென்னையில் மட்டுமல்ல.... தமிழ்நாடு முழுக்கப் படத்துக்காக ரசிகர்கள் வைத்த பேனரை எல்லாம் காவல்துறையினரே கழற்றிக்கொண்டு போனதாக எங்களுக்கு செய்தி வந்தது. அவர்களை தூண்டிவிட்ட உந்துசக்தி எது? மக்கள் செல்வாக்குள்ள ஒரு நடிகனுக்கு எதற்கு இத்தனை தடைகள்? தமிழ்நாட்டில் ஒரு தமிழன் வளரக் கூடாதா? தமிழகம் என்ன ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட மனிதர்களின் மொத்தச் சொத்தா? இங்கே இன்னொரு தமிழன் சிறு வீடுகட்டி வாழக்கூடாதா? தமிழர்கள் என்ன சுதந்திர நாட்டின் அடிமைகளா?

எம்.ஜி.ஆர். முதல்வராக இருந்தபோது கலைஞரை ஒரு போராட்டத்துக்காக சிறைப் பிடித்தார். அப்போது கலைஞருக்காக நான்தான் தோள் கொடுத்தேன்.... அவருக்கு அளிக்கப்பட்ட தண்டனையை நீதிக்கு அளிக்கப்பட்ட தண்டனையாக நினைத்து 'நீதிக்குத் தண்டனை’ என்ற படத்தையே தயாரித்து, இயக்கினேன்... அது எல்லாம் மறந்துபோய் விட்டதா? அந்தப் படம் வெளியானபோது, எம்.ஜி.ஆர் என்னை ராமாவரம் தோட்டத்துக்கு அழைத்தார். அங்கு போகிற என்னிடம் கலைஞர் சொல்லி அனுப்பிய வார்த்தைகள் இப்போதும் என் காதுகளில் ஒலிக்கிறது! சபை நாகரிகம் கருதி அதை இப்போது சொல்ல விரும்பவில்லை.!

அதற்குப் பிறகும் எந்தப் பிரதிபலனையும் எதிர்பாராமல் 'சட்டம் ஒரு விளையாட்டு’ எனும் படத்தை எடுத்தேன். 'இது எங்கள் நீதி’ படம் ரிலீஸானபோது, கலைஞர் முதலமைச்சர்! அப்போது எல்லாம் பாசத்தோடு பழகியிருக்கிறேன். ஒரு படம் எடுத்தவர்கள் எல்லாம் ஆயிரத்தெட்டு சலுகைகளைப் பெறுகிறார்கள். அவர் கதை, வசனத்தில் மூன்று படம் எடுத்தும் ஒரு உதவிகூட நான் கேட்டது இல்லை... அந்தளவுக்கு தன்மானமுள்ள தமிழனான என் மகனுக்கு இத்தனை நெருக்கடியா? தடைக்கற்களா? கலைஞர் மீது வைத்த பாசத்துக்குக் கிடைத்த தண்டனையா?!

ஒரு திரைப்படக் கலைஞனாக நாங்கள் மட்டுமில்லை... எங்களைப்போல் எத்தனையோ பேர் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளோம். சினிமா என்கிற சாதனம் கலைஞர் குடும்பத்துக்கு மட்டுமே சொந்தமாகி விட்டது! இந்த வேதனையைத் தாங்கிக்கொண்டு மேடைகளில் போலித்தனமாக பாராட்டிக்கொண்டு இருக்கிறார்கள் பலர்! உண்மைகளை அப்பட்டமாக உடைத்துப் போடுவதால் என்மீது கோபப்படலாம். அந்தக் கோபத்தின் வெளிப்பாடு வன்முறையாகக்கூட இருக்கலாம்! ஆனால், நான் சாவுக்குப் பயந்தவனல்ல! அப்படி பயந்து இருந்தால்... எம்.ஜி.ஆரை எதிர்த்து கலைஞருக்குக் கைகொடுத்து இருக்கமாட்டேன்!'' என்றார் ஆவேசமாக.

அதே சூட்டோடு, நடிகர் விஜய்யிடமும் பேசினோம். ''14-ம் தேதி வெளியாக வேண்டிய படத்துக்கு ஏகப்பட்டத் தடைகள் வந்தது. 15-ம் தேதிதான் படப் பெட்டியே வெளியூர்களுக்குப் போனது. பாதிக்கப்பட்ட விநியோகஸ்தர்களை எல்லாம் நான் சென்னைக்கு அழைத்தேன். நஷ்டம் எவ்வளவு என்று கேட்டேன். 3 கோடி என்றார்கள். உடனே அதற்கான செக்கை கொடுத்தேன்.
