Enquiries in Kollywood revealed that Kaavalkaran the Tamil remake of the Malayalam hit film Bodyguard is a short-term project. The film’s shooting had begun a month ago and had been moving on at a rapid speed. Going by the words of industry sources, Kaavalkaran could be completed in June or July.

Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay, who plays the male lead in this film, will then move on to a project that is to be directed by Jayam Raja and produced by Aascar Films. If everything falls in place, Raja and Vijay would begin the project once the latter completes the Kaavalkaran assignment.

Meanwhile, there is a buzz going on that Vijay will don one of the roles in the remake of 3 Idiots. This film’s Tamil rights have been procured by Gemini Film Circuit. It is worth mentioning here that Vijay had expressed his desire to work in this remake when his fans wanted to know if he would.

It's almost official and confirmed now that Vijay will start working for the remake of ‘3 Idiots’ after finishing 'Kaavalkaran which is also a remake of a Malayalam film.
He plays the role Rancho played by Aamir Khan and has decided his look in the film. Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay will be sporting a beard for the first time in a movie for ‘3 Idiots’ remake. The remake has evoked a lot of discussions on all fronts.
It's still not known who would play the other two male roles other than Vijay. Gemini Film Circuit which is remaking ‘3 Idiots’ is also on look out for the possible director who would be able to create the same magic of the original. A lot of names are being considered and one among them is the 'Unnaipol Oruvan' young director Chakri.

‘Ilaya Thalapathi’ Vijay’s summer release, ‘Sura’ directed by Rajkumar has been certified a clean ‘U’ by the censor authorities.

Sources say the final product has come out well and Vijay himself expressed happiness after seeing it. Being the 50th movie of Vijay’s career, the movie will be screened in 500 screens worldwide on April 30th. The teasers are already on air on Sun network, with Sun Pictures releasing the movie.

With stunt scenes and dance moves of Vijay and the hip music by Mani Sharma, in the trailers already creating hype, Vijay fans can expect an exciting summer this year!

Vijay has a penchant for music, lyrics and dance and it is no secret that he takes keen interest in these departments as far as his films are concerned. The actor, we hear, holds a discussion with the lyricists before approving the songs and ensuring that it has the lyrics that will be a hit among his fans.

Even at the recently held audio launch function of Sura, many of the film personalities that delivered a speech were vocal about Vijay’s preference for songs and dance. The actor himself began the speech by agreeing that he takes special care to ensure the songs are a hit.

News is that the Ilayathalapathy had presented a ring to noted lyricist Kabilan for penning lyrics that suited his preferences in Vettaikaran. A jubilant Kabilan reveals that Sura’s lyrics were written even before Vettaikaran was released and it was during this discussion he was given the ring.

After shaping Vijay as a top actor, it is now time for S A Chandrasekar to mould his son as a successful politician, so to speak. For the director describes Vijay as an emerging leader who would serve the society by entering politics in future.

“Today’s worker is tomorrow’s leader. My son is working for the betterment of the people today. And I am hopeful he will become a leader tomorrow,” Chandrasekar said in an interview to a popular Tamil weekly.

“There is a gap in politics now. People feel that they are in need of a good politician. An actor can bridge the gap and he can create a change in the society. But he should be prepared to undergo all struggles,” he reportedly said.

Talking about his production venture ‘Veluthukattu’, SAC says, “it is a story set in the backdrop of a village. The script narrated by my assistant Senathipathi impressed a lot and I immediately came forward to produce it.

Director SP Rajkumar says that Sura is all about a youth fighting for the well-being of a slum. According to the director, this is a new storyline for Vijay’s fans. Sura, which is being distributed by Sun Pictures, is all set to hit the screens on April 30th. The songs have already proven to be chartbusters.

Rajkumar says that the comedy portions which are jointly handled by Vijay and Vadivelu will be the highlight of the film. On Tamannah’s role, the director says that she is a college girl in the film and due importance to her character has been given.v

It has been confirmed that Sura will hit the marquee on April 30th. The film went in for Censor certification and has emerged out with a clean U.

Sura, which is Vijay’s 50th film, is directed by SP Raj Kumar and produced by Sangili Murugan. Tamannah, the leading lady of Sura, has been paired up with the Ilayathalapathy for the first time.

Industry sources say that the movie would be surefire success as it has been acquired for distribution by Sun Pictures.

The audio of this film was launched a few weeks ago and has already turned out to be chartbusters. The music for Sura has been scored by Mani Sharma and the album comprises six songs.

Asin fainted due to a gas leak in the caravan allotted to her during the shooting of Kaavalkaran. The actress was not alone when the mishap took place as her father, and makeup assistants were also along with her. All of them inside the caravan fainted, sources report, and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, after the initial treatment, they returned back to their hotels for rest.

The actress is camping in Karaikudi area along with the film crew of Kaavalkaran to complete the first schedule of the film.

The 50th film of Vijay ‘Sura’ is said to be a remake of Mohanlal’s 2007 hit Malayalam film ‘Chotta Mumbai’ directed by Anwar Rasheed. ‘Chotta Mumbai’ was set in the backdrop of Fort Kochi and Mattancherry area and tells the story of a few easygoing young fishermen who are into anything for making money. But have their own personalities, and they even show emotion.

In Tamil according to the script, Vijay’s character is named as Sura, a fisherman. Some sources say Vijay’s character is molded some what similar to that of MGR in Padagotti and Meenava Nanban. Vijay also touches his political plans mildly in ‘Sura’.

In ‘Sura’ Vijay plays a young man who wants to change the society. Unlike the other youth of today Vijay doesn’t shy away from taking responsibilities upfront in order to good to his society. He even tries politics to achieve his ambitions. But even that disappoints Vijay and the he fights the enemies single handedly much like a Shark.

The by line of Vijay’s character is 'Samadhanama poga naan pura illadaa...Sura' which, if roughly translated, means 'I am not a dove to prefer peace, I am a shark". The film is expected to have Vijay fans on a high for long time.

The star value of the film is pretty high. Vijay is teaming up with the hottest Kollywood babe Tamannah for the first time. Vijay fans will not be disappointed as he utters enough punch dialogues to outline his future moves on and off screen. Tamannah will consolidate her position in the top league after ‘Paiyaa’. Vadivelu takes care of the comedy and the comic portions are expected to rock as it did in ‘Pokkiri’ and ‘Villu’ for a Vijay film.

The film was extensively shot tin the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The beauty of Pudhucherry, Cuddalore, Thoothukudi and Kochi coastlines will be visual treats. But some songs were shot overseas keeping with the tradition of Kollywood. The lead team went to New Zealand countryside for a song.

The film is also raved by insiders for the action scenes. Excellent camera work by N K Ekambaram and M S Prabhu. Several scenes in ‘Sura’ involved risky shots and they will be visual treats for action lovers. Fight master is Kanal Kannan and stuntmen from Bangkok are said to have executed some hair raising action scenes.

The songs are already on air. Music is by Mani Sharma. ‘Sura’ has 6 songs and they cater to each and every category of the audience. All songs except one are penned by Kabilan. Na. Muthukumar has written one song. The songs are peppy and fit for the super hero image of Vijay.

‘Sura’ is directed by S.P. Rajkumar, who was the writer of Vijay’s only film with Sivaji Ganesan ‘Oncemore’ and so he exactly knows what is expected of Vijay. Rajkumar is an experienced director having directed a couple of comedy ‘En Purushan Kuzhandhai Madhiri’ and ‘Ponmanam’ and the recent ‘Azhagarmalai’.

Sun Pictures will release ‘Sura’ and that has already ensured success. ‘Sura’ will be releasing big worldwide in over 400 screens.

The Vijay-Asin starrer Kavalkaran went on floors recently and shooting is going on in full swing in Karaikudi region in Tamil Nadu. Director Siddique has roped in several well-established actors and actresses to play important roles in the film.

Earlier, Raj Kiran was signed up to play Asin’s dad in the film. The news now is that Roja will pair up with Raj Kiran to play the leading lady’s mom. This means, Raj Kiran and Roja will be Vijay’s parents-in-law in Kavalkaran.

Opening songs in Vijay’s films always come with a charm. Proving this once again is a number from his 51st film ‘Kaavalkaran’, a remake of Malayalam super hit ‘Bodyguard’, both directed by ace Mollywood filmmaker Siddique.

‘Mannai kaappaan oruvan, Vinnai kaappaan oruvan… Ennai unnai kaakkum avaney avaney Iraivan….’ These are the starting lines of the mass-intro song of the ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’ in the film, if sources are to be believed.

The song was recently shot on the actor and a large number of junior artistes near the famous Sri Mahalingaswamy shrine in Thiruvidaimarudur, a temple town near Kumbakonam. Also present in the shoot was Asin, the heroine of the movie.

While Vijay was spotted in a violet t-shirt and blue jean, Asin was seen wearing a brown sari. Earlier, poojas were performed at the shrine for the success of the film, we learn. A large number of students and public thronged the place after news spread that Vijay was in their place.

Vijaykanth’s Captain TV went on air yesterday (April 14th, 2010). The actor-politician inaugurated the channel in a simple ceremony by lighting the traditional lamp. Earlier, he inaugurated the channel office at Vanagaram in Chennai. The telecast began with religious songs to mark an auspicious beginning.

Clippings in which Rajinikanth, Vijay and Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi congratulating Vijaykanth and wishing him all success in this new venture were telecasted on the channel.
