டைரக்டர் ஜெயம் ராஜா இயக்கத்தில், நடிகர் விஜய் நடிக்கும் வேலாயுதம் படத்தின் பூஜை சென்னையில் 20 ஆயிரம் ரசிகர்கள் முன்னிலையில் பிரமாண்டமாக நடந்தது. ஆஸ்கார் பிலிம்ஸ் சார்பில் தயாரிக்கப்படும் இப்படத்தில் விஜய்க்கு ஜோடியாக ஹன்சிகா மோத்வானி, ஜெனிலியா நடிக்கிறார்கள். விஜய்யின்... தங்கையாக சரண்யா மோகன் நடிக்கிறார். இப்படத்தின் தொடக்க விழா சென்னையில் பல்கலைக்கழக நூற்றாண்டு விழா அரங்கில் நடைபெற்றது. இதில் தமிழகத்தின் பல்வேறு மாவட்டங்கள் மற்றும் பாண்டிச்சேரியி்ல இருந்து விஜய் ரசிகர்கள் 20 ஆயிரம் பேர் கலந்து கொண்டனர். முன்னதாக ரசிகர்கள் மெரினாவில் இருந்து ஜோதி ஏந்தி ஊர்வலமாக வந்து விஜய்யிடம் ஜோதியை கொடுத்தனர். விஜய்யின் அப்பா டைரக்டர் சந்திரசேகரன் - ஷோபா சந்திரசேகரன், எடிட்டர் மோகன் - அவரது மனைவி, ஜெயம் ராஜா - அவரது மனைவி தயாரிப்பாளர் ஸ்ரீதர் - அவரது மனைவி ஆகியோர் குத்துவிளக்கேற்றி வைத்தனர்.

நிகழ்ச்சியில் பேசிய விஜய், எனக்கு ரசிகர்கள்தான் விஐபி.க்கள். அதனால் இந்த விழாவில் ரசிகர்களை வரவழைத்து படத்‌தை தொடங்கியிருக்கிறோம். எல்லோருக்கும் ஆஸ்கார் விருது ஆசை இருக்கும். ஆஸ்கார் படத்தில் நடிக்கும் ‌ஆசையும் இருக்கும். வேலாயுதம் படத்தின் மூலம் எனக்கு ஆஸ்கார் நிறுவனத்தில் நடிக்கும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்திருக்கிறது. ஜெயம் ராஜா ஏராளமான வெற்றிப்படங்களை ‌கொடுத்திருக்கிறார். ‌பெரும்பாலும் அவரது தம்பி ஜெயம் ரவியை வைத்துதான் படம் இயக்குவார். என்னையும் உங்க தம்பியா நினைச்சுக்கோங்கன்னு அவரிடம் சொல்லியிருக்கிறேன். என்ன... நான் அவர் அளவுக்கு கலர் இல்லை. சச்சின் படத்துக்கு பிறகு ஜெனிலியா இந்த படத்தில் என்னுடன் நடிக்கிறார். தெலுங்கு சினிமா பக்கம் போனவரை பிடித்து தமிழுக்கு அழைத்து வந்திருக்கிறோம். இன்னொரு நாயகி ஹன்சிகா மோத்வானியும் ஏராளமான தமிழ் சினிமாக்களில் நடித்திருக்கிறார். அவர் தமிழ் சினிமாவின் ஜூனியர் குஷ்புவாக இருக்கிறார், என்றார்.

‌இசையமைப்பாளர் விஜய் ஆண்டனி பேசுகையில், 2011ம் ஆண்டின் மிகப்பெரிய ஹிட் ஆக இந்த படம் இருக்கும். பொதுவாக படத்தை பார்க்கும்போதுதான் சீட் நுனியில் இருப்போம். இந்த படத்தின் கதையை கேட்கும்‌போதே நான் நுனி சீட்டில்தான் இருந்தேன். அவ்வளவு விறுவிறுப்பான கதை, என்றார்.

விழாவின்போது சாதனை நாயகன் என்ற பெயரில் விஜய்யின் வாழ்க்கை வரலாறு அடங்கிய புத்தகம் வெளியிடப்பட்டது.

Looks like the uproar on a ban on Asin since she is currently visiting Sri Lanka for the shoots of a Hindi film will soon be settled. In a media interaction, Sarath Kumar clarified that fixing shoot locations is not really in the hands of actors and that Asin can’t be held responsible for her Sri Lanka visit. “We are working out on the issue and an announcement about that will be out soon,” Sarath added.

He was also asked about the Vijay – theatre owners’ issue for which he opined that it was unfair to ask Vijay to pay up for the losses his films made. “Would the theatre owners be ready to part with the profit his movies make? It has to work both ways. Profit and loss are not in anybody’s hands,” Sarath questioned the integrity of the demand.

The pooja and kick off event of Vijay’s Velayudham, held today, was as much as a family event as it was a fan event. Fans from 30 districts in Tamil Nadu thronged the Madras University Centenary Hall in Chepauk to get a glimpse of Vijay and to participate in the commencement of the movie. The dais saw the Velayudham team present with their families: Vijay, Jeyam Raja, Aaskar Sridhar attended the event with their spouses along with S A Chandrasekhar, Shoba Chandrasekhar, Editor Mohan, Vijay Anthony, Genilia and Hansika Motwani.

The event started after a baton that travelled across Tamil Nadu and brought to the event by fans, was handed over to Vijay. At 10.05, the auspicious time, Pooja was held and a bound script was handed by Sridhar, S A Chandrasekhar and Editor Mohan to Vijay. A teaser trailer, shot during the photo sessions, was also shown to the hollering fans. A title song of sorts, composed by Vijay Anthony, was played time and again during the event making the fans scream their lungs out.

Hansika and Genilia were the first ones to speak at the event, who said that they are happy to associate with the team. After which Vijay Anthony addressed the audience, who also revealed that he was bowled over by the story even as it was narrated to him by Jeyam Raja. “I realized the edge-of-the-seat experience when I heard the story,” he said. He assured that the movie would be a runaway hit in 2011 and it would be an out and out entertainer with all commercial ingredients thrown in.

An ecstatic Raja said it is the happiest day in his life. “I’m lucky to have associated with producer Aascar Ravichandran. I’m happy that the chief guests for this event are the fans. They are the judges and I assure them that Velayudham would be the best movie in Vijay’s career,” he declared. A book, titled Saadanai Naayaganin Sarithira Padivugal, written by Vijay’s PRO for more than a decade P T Selvakumar was also released at the event. This book traces the life of Vijay from his childhood days to Velayudham and includes photos and snippets collected from various points of his life.

Vijay was all praise for producer Aascar Ravichandran and revealed that it was Ravi’s idea to have fans participate in the pooja of Velayudham. “My films usually do not have grand launch events. However, Aascar wanted it to be so but I was skeptical about it. I told him not to bring any international stars like Jackie Chan like he did for Dasavatharam launch. That is when he suggested this idea to include fans in the launch,” he said. “I am glad to have done this since I’m where I’m because of my fans,” he stated emotionally. He went on to assure that the movie would be a good entertainer and appealed his fans to support the movie like they do for his other movies.

On a lighter note, about the heroines, he said that Hansika Motwani is like Kushboo from 16 Vayadinile. On Genilia, he stated that they share a rapport since he knows her owing to their earlier association.

All the fans, who were selected to attend the event, received a gift hamper with a Velayudham Tshirt. They were also served with Biriyani and refreshments to go along with it.

In an extraordinary general body meeting held by the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association yesterday, it was decided that the theatre owners would not extend support to any of the Vijay films until he compensates for the losses incurred by them for screening Kuruvi, Vettaikaran, Azhagiya Thamizh Magan, Villu and Sura. All these films did not do well as expected and hence the theatres suffered huge losses.

Earlier, they had demanded that Vijay pay back 35 percent of the amount. This was brought to the actor’s notice and he had said that he would announce a compensation package soon but failed to do so.

Following this, the Theatre Owners have decided that they would not screen Vijay films.

Vijay and the unit of his Next flim bodyguard remake flew to Malaysia on Friday night for a one week shoot of the film. As per our sources director Siddique will be shooting a song and part of an action scene there, for this remake of the Malayalam hit Bodyguard.

The combination of Vijay and Super Good Films created wonders at the box office until a few years ago with films like Poove Unakkaga, Thullatha Manamum Thullum Love Today and Thirupachi Later when Vijay stuck with routine pot boilers his relationship with super goods again. Now at a time when Vijay has to prove his pull and choose a lucky production house again Reliable sources Vijay will sign a film for Super Good Films and the first few rounds of discussions have already been completed. Even before ‘Thillalangadi’ has hit the screens director ‘Jayam’ Raja is all set to start his next. Titled‘Velayudham’, the film, as we all know, will have Vijay in the lead role with Genelia and Hansika Motwani playing the heroines“Velayudham is one of the biggest challenges in my ife. Because, this is the first time for me to work with a top star like Vijay and the responsibility is filmmaker says Throwing light on ‘Velayudham’, he says, “It is a real big entertainer in all aspects and the script requires a huge production cost. Vijay has been awarded the Fans’ Favorite Actor award during the Kalaignar TV Isaiaruvi Channel’s awards for film music directors and playback singers. Udhayanidhi Stalin and director Dharani presented the award to Vijay during a function held to distribute the awards.

Rahul Nambiar and actress Andrea received the best debut male and female playback singer awards respectively. Selvaganesh received the best debut music director award for scoring the music for the film Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu.

Shruti Haasan was presented the best music director award by Ilayaraja for scoring the music for Unnai Pol Oruvan. Ilayaraja was honored with a silk shawl by the Kalaignar TV’s CEO Amirtham.

Vijay’s Velayudham will be kick started on the 15th of July. The shoots, however, will happen a day later at the AVM Studios bus stand set. Vijay is back after wrapping his Siddique directed comedy flick Kaaval Kaadhal, with Asin in the lead. Post production works are on for Kaaval Kaadhal.

Velayudam is directed by Jeyam Raja and is the remake of the Telugu hit Azad, released a few years ago. The movie will have Genilia and Hansika Motwani playing Vijay’s lead women.

Vijay’s fans are expecting his next release Kaavalkaran, which is directed by Siddique. The movie is nearing completion and in comes the news that the title is not Kaavalkaran but it is Kaaval Kaadhal. It may be recalled that there were widespread speculations in Kollywood that there could be a title change. So it is Kaaval Kaadhal, finally.

Kaaval Kaadhal is the remake of the Malayalam film Bodyguard, for which Siddique had donned the director’s robe. The film has Asin playing Vijay’s love-interest.

Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay has almost completed his 51st film Kaaval Kaadhal with Asin and is all set to commence work on his 52nd. The film titled as Velayudham to be produced by Aascar Ravichandran and directed by Jeyam Raja will have Hansika Motwani and Genelia D’Souza as Vijay’s on screen partners. Velayudham is the remake of Telugu Azad which featured Nagarjuna and is said to deal with the serious issues that are plaguing the common man and the solutions for the same. It appears that the film may be laced with political flavor.

The launch of Velayudham on 15th July will be a unique one but in a very grandiose manner akin to any political function. The event will be held at the Madras University Centenary hall and more than 10,000 Vijay fans will be gracing the occasion. The caring star that Vijay is, he would be distributing colorful T shirts and biriyani packets to each and every fan who attends the function. A novel launch indeed!

The title of Vijay-starrer Kaavalkaran has been changed to Kaaval Kaadhal, which was reported a few days ago. The reason for the name change is cited to be the objection raised by Sathya Movies, which owns the title and other rights of the 1967-released Kaavalkaran. MGR and Jayalalitha had starred in this film.

Sathya Movies had sent a letter to the Producers’ Council stating that it had not parted with the title of Kaavalkaran and hence the name should not be used for the Vijay-starrer. Following this, the title has been changed to Kaaval Kaadhal.

The theatre owners had decided that they would not render support to any of the Vijay’s forthcoming releases because of the losses they had incurred in screening Sura and the actor was asked to compensate for the losses.

When Vijay was informed about this, he had said that he would revert to them with a compensation package. However, with several days passing by after this announcement was made, there is no word about what the actor intends to do to the theatre owners. This has once again irked the theatre owners, who are planning to convene a meeting to decide on the future course of action. The most likely solution that they may arrive at could be a ban on Kaaval Kaadhal.

Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay’s 51st film Kaavalkaaran is in progress but there appears to be a small spoke in its wheels. As is known to all the film buffs, Kaavalkaaran is the remake of Malayalam film Bodyguard directed by Siddique. The producer of the Malayalam film Mr Johny Sagarika has filed a case in Saidapet court today that the remake rights of the film are with him and Siddique cannot proceed with the film as he has not bought the same from him.

While reacting to this, Siddique was visibly surprised about the events as Johnny is a good friend of him. He also stated that he has bought the rights of the film. On the other hand, looks like Kaavalkaaran is only the working title of the movie until another title is finalized.
